A native of Vancouver, Washington, 1SG (ret) Raymond A. Dakos
graduated from Fort Vancouver High School in 1990 and entered the United States Army on 2 December 1992 where he attended One Station
Unit Training and U.S. Army Airborne School at Ft. Benning, GA.
Follow on positions and assignments included: Rifleman thru Team Leader, C Co, 1-504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Ft. Bragg, NC (1993-1995), Team Leader, I Corps LRS (Long Range Surveillance), Ft. Lewis, WA (1995-1997), Squad Leader, B Co, 1-21 Infantry, Schofield Barracks, HI, 1997-2000) Platoon Sergeant, HHC, 1-187 Infantry, Fort Campbell, KY
(2000-2004), Senior Observer/Controller, Task Force 2, Joint Readiness Training Center, Ft. Polk, LA (2004-2006), Senior Infantry Advisor, 1-196th Infantry (AC/RC) Ft. Richardson, AK (2006-2009) First Sergeant, A Co, 1-66 Armor, Ft.

1SG Dakos served three combat tours to support the Global War on Terrorism to include Operation Enduring Freedom I,
Operation Iraqi Freedom I, and Operation Enduring Freedom X.
His awards and decorations include:
The Silver Star, The Bronze Star (3rd Award), Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Award), Army Commendation Medal (11th
Award), Army Achievement Medal (5th Award), Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), National Defense Service Ribbon (2nd
Award) Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2nd award), Global War on Terror Expeditionary medal, Global War on Terror Service
Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Development Ribbon (numeral 2), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO ISAF Ribbon, Parachutist Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Ranger Tab, Expert Infantryman’s
Badge, and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.
His proudest achievements were leading Soldiers and Non-Commissioned Officers in combat and completing the grueling Army Best Ranger Competition in both 1998 and 1999. 1SG Dakos is also a proud member of the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club and a member of the United States Army Infantry Association.
1SG Dakos has two sons, Theodore (11yrs) and Liam (3yrs) and is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Science degree in Management at the University of Phoenix. He looks forward to the opportunity to challenge and inspire young people
to be better citizens.
